Martin Sexton, you’re my hero
Local songwriters Mike Powell & Dusty Pas'Cal will take the Odeon stage in Nelson for an intimate night filled with honest music and heartfelt storytelling. Doors open at 7:30 Saturday - admission is $18. Tickets are available online here.
We caught up with Mike Powell for brief discussion about this gig. Two questions, two reasons to see two talented musicians do what they do best - inspire and entertain.
Mike, Do have Musicians like dusty that inspire you?
1. No one inspires my music more than Syracuse native Martin Sexton. I first saw him play while I was living in Boulder. In my opinion he is the most important man in music. His voice, his songs and his approach to using music as a vehicle for connecting people and navigating his life is inspiring to say the very least. Aside from Marty, there’s nothing I love more than listening to Colin Aberdeen solo – man, I wish I could play guitar like CA!
Is the Odeon your ideal venue(vibe, size etc)?
2. Nelson is such as amazing room and this will be my first show there, I am really excited about it. I think it holds somewhere around 100 people so it truly is the perfect size venue for what I do. As songwriters all you care about is that your emotion and message comes across properly…that is what the Odeon is all about. Real and raw.
Real and raw intimate performance this weekend at the Nelson Odeon - 4035 Nelson Road Cazenovia.
