#photo_oftheweek
Each week a new photo selected by the photographer will be posted on the #republicofsalt with no caption. These photos will showcase the city and tucked away spots that you may or may not recognize.
1) What’s your favorite type of photo?
I appreciate photos that exhibit reality. Whether it’s a street scene, a portrait, or a landscape, I want to believe that it’s real, in its natural state. There’s nothing better than capturing the split second moment when someone lets their guard down.
2) How did you get into photography?
I’ve always been a “creative” type, if you will. I spent a lot of my youth playing music, reading, and drawing(though I’m not very good at it. It was more like doodling I guess.) My older sister is a photographer as well, so I’ve been exposed to it since I was a young teen. While I was in college for journalism, eight or nine years ago, I spent a lot of time in the dark room for an entry level photography class. I developed an interest then, but once I left school I put it on the back burner. Last year I needed content for a blog I was working on, so I dusted off the old camera and started shooting. From there it just snowballed into a full blown obsession.
3) Your Goals.
As I learn more about the trade, my goals have shifted. Lately I have been more focused on portraits and lifestyle photography, and would love to grow into a top level professional in the industry. One thing never changes. I want to continue to grow as an artist, because as long as you are willing, there’s always more to learn.
